1   Q: What the heck is Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) anyway?
A: Well, Great Teacher Onizuka a.k.a. GTO (not the car!!!) is a Japanese manga title created by Touru Fujisawa.

2   Q: Where is this title published?
A: This manga was serialized in Shukan Shonen Magazine (http://www.shonenmagazine.com) once a week. The manga novels are published by Kodansha Publishing (http://kodanclub.com) 4 or 5 times a year.

3   Q: Is there an anime version of GTO?
A: Yes, all 43 episodes of them. The series was aired in Japan from 30 June 1999 until 24 September 2000, and rereleased in DVD boxes shortly after that in East Asia.

The series was produced by Studio Pierrot (the studio which also produced Fushigi Yuugi, Ayashi No Ceres and Sailormoon).

This series is also released in North America recently by TokyoPop (http://www.tokyopop.com).

4   Q: How about the live-action version I always heard of?
A: The live action series is another version of GTO apart of anime and manga, and it features REAL PEOPLE. Not your usual real people, but famous Japanese actors and actresses such as Takashi Sorimachi, Nanako Matshushima and Norika Fujiwara.

All in all, there were 12 episodes of the drama, 1-hour long each, and there were also 2 special episodes made as the appetizer for the movie.
