Please submit to the lowest possible subcategory, i.e. if your site is a fansite dedicated to a specific author, submit to the Author letter category per the author's last name (or the author's subcategory if they have one), or to the (subgenre)/Authors cat if applicable.

Descriptions: please indicate what your site contains, i.e. subgenre-specific content, forums, image galleries, title lists or suggested reads, links collections, articles and columns, interviews, etc. These items are often the links to individual pages or sections of your site, and will guide ODP editors in category placement.

This subcategory is dedicated to sites about romance novels, i.e. promoting romance fiction books and writing. Key elements are a pair of individuals in a monogamous relationship ending in a happily ever after. This genre is also closely linked with Women's Fiction.

Romance novels are most often printed in one of three formats:

  • categories (shorter format with limited shelf time of about one month - i.e. Harlequin, Loveswept, Mills & Boon, and Silhouette)
  • single titles (longer format with multi-month shelf time)
  • e-books
  • Romance novels come in several subgenres, some of which have additional sub-subgenres:

  • African-American a.k.a. Multicultural
  • Contemporary (Chick-Lit and Romantic Comedy, Romantic Suspense, Sports, Western)
  • Historical (Americana, Medieval, Native American, Regency, Scottish, Western)
  • Inspirational a.k.a. Christian
  • Paranormal (Faerie, Futuristic, Ghost, Psychic, Shapeshifter, Time Travel, Vampire, Witch)
  • Teen a.k.a. Young Adult
  • Additionally, romances are rated on a scale from "sweet" (little or no sex) to "spicy" (erotic romance). Sites featuring or about erotica should be submitted to the appropriate category in Adult.

    African-American

Sites about romance novels featuring at least one lead African-American character (hero, heroine, or both). This subgenre is sometimes also referred to as Multicultural.

    Authors

Please format your title as [lastname, firstname]. In the description it is helpful if you can give an idea as to the subgenre written (contemporary, historical, paranormal, multicultural, inspirational), whether they are single title or categories, and/or the name(s) of series written. Also, please briefly describe what can be found *on* the site (i.e. sample chapters, recipes, link pages, backlist titles, etc.).

    Example:
Palmer, Diana - Author of the contemporary western series, Long, Tall Texans. Biography, title lists, guide to series, bulletin board, mailing list, and contest.
