Profile

Greetings all!

Have you been waiting a long time to get listed in ODP? If your site is not listed anywhere in ODP and you have read the sections of the guidelines covering the URL to submit, the

correct title to put in the form ,

the standards for describing a site,

your site qualifies as per the site selection criteria

and was submitted to the single most appropriate category, feel free to contact me through the editor feedback form. If after reading the above guidelines you realize that a mistake may have been made when submitting, resubmit the site to the same category as the original submission and make sure the submission follows the guidelines. If the category to which the site was submitted is one in which I edit I'll get back to you within a week, and if appropriate, list the site.

Hardcore skier here, bumpin', jumpin', and tearin' up the slopes wherever and whenever I can from PA to Switzerland.

I was edumacated in Industrial Engineering @ UPitt. I now focus on Information Architecture, Internet marketing and designing the processes that make a web site rock. The KISS principle is of the utmost importance on the web. Anticipate your users; how they will think about your site, why they would want to visit, what they would want to accomplish, when they might have a need for what the site offers, and how they will find it. This is should be the first step in building any web site. Identify the technical constraints that may inhibit visibility on the web, and layout the technical foundation around them. Build your site and architecture around the way people will think of it or search for it to take advantage of the natural traffic that will flow from search sites. (easier said than done!)

Plan it in detail before the first keystroke is struck. As we've seen, it's better to get a great site out late than to be first on the market with a half baked idea that doesn't work.

Know of a great skiing site that is not in ODP, make sure to submit it, so we can get it listed before the upcoming US ski season! Most resort sites are already in, but if you have or know of a US ski club please submit to:

Sports/Skiing/Associations/Clubs/North_America/United_States

For those outside the US find the right category from:

Sports/Skiing/Associations/Clubs/

A few quotes:

I work in Internet Marketing.

Personal interests, include reading, business/marketing/technology publications, the Goldratt Institute and the Theory of Constraints is pretty cool. Mtn. biking in and around Philly, skiing, snowboarding, clubbing, workin' on the ODP, web site promotion/design/architecture and finding the time to sleep are among my favorite activities. I'm an alum of Triangle (engineering fraternity) and a memeber of the World Future Society, American Marketing Association, Professional Ski Instructors of America. Feel free to contact me any time about the ODP or anything mentioned above!
